Report That Crash in NYC

The NYPD is primarily responsible for collecting crash data in New York City. It's estimated that approximately 78,000 crashes happen each year in the New York City metro area. However, the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad investigates less than half of 1 percent of all crashes (Transportation Alternatives, 2012. Reclaim, Vol 18, #4, p.19).

New York City needs more comprehensive crash reporting, and that starts with New Yorkers like YOU.

In addition to mapping more information about where and how crashes and “near misses” occur, this map also provides a tool for witnesses of a crash to reach out to the victim(s), for any police, legal or insurance needs.

These accidents include:

Cyclist & Motorist crash   Cyclist & Motorist crash

Pedestrian & Motorist crash   Pedestrian & Motorist crash

Motorist & Motorist crash    Motorist & Motorist crash

If you witnessed a crash:
  • If the crash has not yet been reported on the map, fill out the Survey.
  • If the crash is already on the map, submit a Witness Peport. Your comments will remain private.

Can Low Speed Accident Cause Whiplash

Whiplash
Yes, Yes, Yes! Pain and stiffness to the neck from a low-impact collision without any evident injury can cause whiplash.

"Average Speeds"=25-40 mph
"High Speeds" =40 mph plus.

New York Car Accident Lawyer, Paul Ajlouny reports that 85% of neck injuries often times result from car crashes and rear-end impacts.

Low speed rear-end impacts can leave a victim with a number symptoms.

What contributes to rear-end collision injuries:

  • vehicles involved
  • speed differential
  • vehicle weight
  • location of impact
  • direction of impact
  • head restraint location
  • seat failure
  • seat back angle
  • seat back height

Unfortunately, insurance companies are skeptical when it comes to Whiplash. Whiplash doctors in New York, make sure that patients are being truthful about their pain and injury.

Doctors play a key factor in an injury victims whiplash claim. Their doctors credibility, name and image is on the line. Adjusters will review a doctor's injury report and pain treatment plan.
